Phelps has collected 16 Olympic medals, eight in a magnificent fashion at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. So many accomplishments at the mere age of 23 years.

Michael Phelps is undoubtedly built for swimming. His size 14 feet, 6ft 7in arm reach, broad shoulders, and large chest muscles make him very hard to defeat. I discovered that this blog owner described this well on the muay thai gym tiger weblog. He boasts relatively short legs for his height, that give him more power in the water. He's got double-jointed knees and feet that can rotate 15 degrees more than possible by the average person. This allows him to fully straighten his body so his feet resemble powerful flippers. He is unquestionably the closest thing to a "human dolphin."

It's not only these inherited advantages that make Phelps the great swimmer that he is. Phelps is the hardest working swimmer, following an inredible workout and diet schedule.

Michael Phelps Workout

Have you ever seen the Michael Phelps workout? Phelps works out for six hours a day, six days a week. Nothing to it. Phelps goes through his full day of training regardless if the day happens to be Christmas day or his mother's birthday - simply no excuses. His unquestionable work ethic, persistence and dedication to the sport and training have made Phelp's the greatest swimmer of all time.

Phelps enjoys combining his workouts in the pool with workouts in the gym.

In the pool...

Michael Phelps spends large portions of his time working out in the pool. The in-pool portion consists of swimming 80km each week which equals over 13km each training day. His sample workout looks like this:

End of practice:

500 abdominal exercises and static stretching

Michael Phelps loves using various training tools to accommodate his swimming workouts. This gives him much-needed variation to his workouts.

"I use a bunch of Speedo training gear, like kickboards, pull buoys, training paddles, and snorkels," Phelps says. "I'll also listen to music during some of my longer workouts with H20 Audio's waterproof headphones."

In the gym...

Phelps aims to minimize his time in the gym. He doesn't like wasting time. He focuses on functional training and dry-land training. Those are the biggest components of the Michael Phelps workout.

"In preparation for Beijing, I started adding weightlifting to my dry-land work," Phelps says. "Since then, we've expanded the amount of weights I am using, and I'm running more than I ever have. Pushups and pull-ups have also always been essential."

To match his powerful stroke style of swimming, Phelps performs exercises such as the diagonal wood chopper and the straight wood chopper.

Michael Phelps offers advice on resting and recovering.

The best way to benefit from your toughest workouts is to let your body fully recover before training hard again. "Sleep is also a big part of my recovery," Phelps says. "It's really important that my body gets enough rest so that I'm ready to go for my next race or training session."

Michael Phelps Diet

Phelps is capable of consuming more calories in a single day than many of us can in an entire week. He consumes over 10,000 calories consisting of different types of nutrients each training day. Try and compare this to an average person's diet of 2000 calories per day. Eating this many calories is a workout in itself and takes great dedication and planning. But Phelps needs to consume this much because he burns up to 1000 calories every hour he swims. You do the math.

Tue, 07 Feb 2012 04:56:00 -0800 Television in 3D - Is Now the Right Time to Buy a 3D TV? http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/television-in-3d-is-now-the-right-time-to-buy http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/television-in-3d-is-now-the-right-time-to-buy Do you want to buy a 3D television? Tons of sites on the Internet offer 3D Television reviews, thus helping people to make the right choice.3D Televisions are the recent emerging HDTV trends. The sleek style, immense size and the touch of modernity is what is attractive about the 3D TVs. No wonder everyone wants them. Buyers expect these sets to be expensive since it is a new technology product. However, it is worth each and every penny you pay for this product. It offers features which will redefine your experience of TV viewing.I personally believe that this blog explained this nicely on this Rufus Schoenle weblog.

Leading TV manufacturers are actually launching unique features in their products. They want to offer features which you will not find in any other brand. This shows how competitive the market has become. In future, this TV is expected to get better, with more improved features and technology.

Manufacturers of high definition 3 dimensional TVs include Samsung, LG. You will find these televisions ranging from 42 to 72 inches. Who would not want this immense television to be the focal point in the living room?

To lead the competition, manufacturers are providing TV goods which are 3D enabled and with HDTV viewing. This technology has made the product more expensive. Through the 3D television reviews, buyers can identify a TV which has the features and specifications which they want in their TV. The information and demo given by the sales man for the product are not enough. Reviews are something which will help you beyond a sales person. They will provide you information regarding the flaws in the product, if any. They will tell you of features that are missing in the product. Reviews are vital, and you should make the most of them.

Television manufacturers have begun to launch their own 3D TV sets for homes. If you want to buy one, make sure that you get the latest model, or the one which will be adequate for your viewing needs. The 3D television reviews alert you on the features supplied by the product. Though these are expensive TV sets, there is a lot of fascination regarding these high definition televisions. Use any accessible way to buy the right television.

Even if the prices of these televisions are going to rise in the coming future, many would still buy them because these televisions amaze and mesmerize their viewers. The viewers have a great time when they watch movies, serials and play video games.

Sun, 05 Feb 2012 00:19:00 -0800 Sweden's Amazing Treehotel http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/swedens-amazing-treehotel http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/swedens-amazing-treehotel Kent Lindvall founded Treehotel in July 2010 and talks to Welcome Beyond about how it all came about and what it is like to stay up a tree 60 km south of the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden.

I read that the idea of the Treehotel was born on a fly fishing trip to Russia.

Kent: That's correct, but it started with a film that was made here in Harads village by a couple of guys from Stockholm. The idea was to make a documentary about finding their roots and connecting with their childhood. I believe that this writer explained this incredibly on this Leonard Orduno web page. The name of the film was Tree Lover because they really liked to stay up in trees and tell stories about them. In this film they built a tree house, and after the film was finished it was left empty, so we asked them to rent it out to us.

Then, three years ago I took that idea with me on a fishing trip to Russia. There were three architects on this trip and when we sat around the campfire with a glass of vodka I presented the idea for the Treehotel to them. I asked them if they were interested to come to the forest with us and of course they loved the idea. They came up, looked at the forest and said, "This is my tree!" and there was a big fight to find the best place for their tree house. Then they went home and started to draw to come up with an idea for us.

I've seen many tree houses. They're all very similar but yours are something completely different. Was that your brief to the architects?

Kent: Yes, I told the architects that they must come up with a unique design and that they could not speak to each other. They had to do it by themselves and couldn't look at any other ideas. They had to create something new that you couldn't find anywhere else in the world.

We also decided that the tree houses must be comfortable hotel rooms useable year-round, even in severe cold temperatures or rain, and that they must be safe and easy to reach by a better system than standard ladders.

Do you have a favorite tree house?

Kent: No, they are all so different. It depends on your mood. If you want to be free and alone, you stay in the Bird's Nest because nobody can reach you up there.

You can pull up the stairs with a remote control and you are free like a bird. It's only got a small window but it's great do some deep thinking. The Blue Cone has the biggest window with the best views and it's the only one overlooking the river. The Cabin is perfect for a couple, for a honeymoon maybe. It has a really nice, big bed in the centre of the room where you can see nature outside from your pillow. It's the biggest tree house with 24 square meters and has a big open terrace on the roof.

Of course the Mirrorcube is very unique. We told the architect that he must make something that can work with nature. He had the opposite view that nature must reflect in our buildings. The Mirrorcube fits everywhere, because wherever you put it in the forest, it's just the reflection of its surroundings, a reflection of nature.

I heard that the UFO is coming soon...

Kent: Yes, we are building it now and it is almost finished. And we have decided on the one after that already. It's a Finnish architect who has sent us a very nice idea. We have a couple more great drawings from other architects but we will only do one more for now.

We are thinking about building a service house this autumn so people can have shower and dressing rooms as well as a small shop. And we will also make a chapel for people so they can get married in the forest.

Your philosophy is to live in harmony and respectfully with nature. Could you elaborate?

Kent: When we started to make these tree houses, we decided not to destroy anything - neither the ground nor the trees around them. We simply find places where we don't need to cut any trees. We make small paths that fit in perfectly with the forest without taking anything out, so when you come up here it's absolutely untouched nature.

We build the houses on living trees so we must take care of them for the future. They must survive and hold up the tree houses. We used special wood that has been heat-treated and not impregnated with chemicals. Of course it's much more expensive but in the long term it will be much better for nature. The toilet system is 100% eco friendly. Like an incinerator, it burns everything into ash so we can return it to nature.

You offer quite a lot of activities for the guests. What are some of the most popular ones that guests enjoy doing?

Kent: Most of the activities we have are connected to nature, so it's dog-sledding and snow-shoeing or walking in the forest. It's a really wild area so you can see moose nearly every day around the tree houses, as well as reindeer.

In summer we also have kayaking, hiking and our own activity called village walking. We take our guests on a walk exploring the history and culture up here. We are then invited to private homes and have a coffee or tea while the family tells us their story of living here.

And we have a lot of activities around horses too. You can do forestry work, nature trekking and you can even go skiing behind a horse. And of course, we have a sauna as well.

Thank you, Kent!

Fri, 03 Feb 2012 22:31:00 -0800 St Lucia Honeymoons Benefit From Geography http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/st-lucia-honeymoons-benefit-from-geography http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/st-lucia-honeymoons-benefit-from-geography The geography of this part of the Caribbean can add to the romance of a St Lucia honeymoon.

Historical location contributes to the romance. Saint Lucia is part of the Lesser Antilles island chain of the Caribbean, also known as the Windward Isles. I found that this website described this smartly on this Geoffrey Kardas web page.Dating back to the age of sail and a total dependence on the natural environment to travel across the Atlantic, the name of this group of islands comes from their relative position further east in the Caribbean, closer to the trade winds, and there is also a group of Leeward Islands further north in the Antilles chain. The trade winds and the trans-Atlantic currents and mark the dividing line between these two groups of islands. St Lucia shares its status as a Windward Isle with Dominica, Martinique, and Grenada. Barbados is sometimes considered a Windward island.

Unlike many Caribbean islands that are built on limestone and coral foundations, the Lesser Antilles chain is volcanic, and many people will remember the events of Montserrat over the past decade when the whole island was evacuated because of an eruption. Saint Lucia itself was formed as island relatively recently due to volcanic activity. The three highest peaks of the island, Mount Gimie and the two Pitons, were originally volcanoes. Sulphur springs, near Soufriere (French for sulphur) is billed as the world's only drive-in volcano.

These sulphur springs are a result of a weak spot in a volcanic caldera, high temperatures and an underground connection to the nearby ocean. The result is superheated steam, strong smells of minerals, and a fantastic way to spend an afternoon learning about the geology of the island, and even take a dip in a mineral spring after returning to town.

Of course, many people choose St Lucia weddings because of the island's beautiful sandy beaches. But for some, geography may also play a role.

Tue, 31 Jan 2012 22:13:00 -0800 Tom and Jerry Movies - A Blast From a Generation Gone By http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/tom-and-jerry-movies-a-blast-from-a-generatio http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/tom-and-jerry-movies-a-blast-from-a-generatio Do you love the classic Tom and Jerry movies? This great cartoon for kids is one of the longest continuously running shorts ever created; it was originally made to air as a TV show and then developed into full length feature films. For anyone growing up in the 50's, 60's and 70's the great cat and mouse chasing episodes were a part of daily life; get home from school switch on the TV and enjoy the hilarious antics of this cat and mouse team.

Unfortunately the days are over, you'll still be able to watch endless reruns on your favorite cartoon network, but the studio has stopped creating new series or movies. The latest Tom and Jerry movie was released in 2006; but for any diehard fans or parents wanting to introduce their children to some of the animation magic that they grew up with, there are plenty of DVD sets available online.

Not many people realize that the cat and mouse has had several creators, though the original artists will always be William Hanna and Joseph Barbara two talented cartoonists and directors who are also responsible for, the Flintstones, the Jetsons, yogi bear and a whole line of other well known cartoon for kids. I personally believe that this web page described this intelligently on this Jermaine Milin web site. They worked for MGM until the late 50's when things changed and the studio shut down for some time. In the 60's a slightly eccentric creative director from the Czech Republic, his slightly surreal ideas weren't accepted by MGM and 3 years later Chuck Jones became the regular creator; you can now find Tom and Jerry DVD box sets containing only the episodes of each of the 3 creators in one.

Since its initial release over 50 years ago the series has gone through several different changes, some of these can be attributed to the changing directors and others have to do with keeping up with the times so that it can appeal to young kids. For example there is less and less reference to scenes of war in the cartoons and more to do with technology and city life, you'll find more mobile phones and sports cars in the new cat and mouse episodes.

The latest film by the comical cat and mouse team released in 2005 is titled "Tom and Jerry fast and furry" a take on the popular trendy movie "the fast and furious" a name that would appeal any trendy young child. The plot line revolves around an around the world race going over land, sea and snow in the hopes of winning the trophy at the end. In this movie both of them are competitors and have supped up cars that can switch from land mobiles into boats, planes and helicopters at the flick of a button. To make things more interesting both Tom and Jerry's transportation has a range of booby traps and weaponry to throw the other out of the lead if they need to, the rest is a roller coaster ride with each side aiming for that prize.

Tom and Jerry fast and furry is available on DVD and you can easily find it online with all of the other great series including special box sets dedicated to each of the different creative directors of the series.

Tue, 31 Jan 2012 01:17:00 -0800 John Singleton http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/john-singleton http://brandonburne614.posterous.com/john-singleton Membership in the ranks of thoroughbred horse owners does not come with any guarantees of success. Costly mistakes are the misfortune of owners who, despite doing everything in their power to go about it properly, fail to have the combination of luck and a fat wallet required to ride out the vagaries to which temperamental horses can subject their owners.

John "Singo" Singleton is certainly a case in point.

Wildly successful in business at a young age, I think that this webpage described this well on this Elwood Sabaj web post.Singleton attempted to translate his business fortune into punting fortune, only to learn that savvy in one area does not necessarily equate to savvy in another, particularly when it's dependent on creatures capable of running like the wind one day, yet seemingly unable to even pass it the next.

Singleton comes from humble origins. He likes to recount tales of listening to races on the radio with his father, who worked in an auto parts factory and punted his wages away at Saturday afternoon race meets.

Young John found himself inexorably drawn to the buzz and excitement generated by Australia's third largest spectator sport. He would one day claim that during those early years, he made it a goal to pursue thoroughbred ownership if success was ever his.

Before the horse ever occupied the stable, however, Singleton was an inveterate punter. He made and lost a significant fortune that he acquired between the ages of 18 and 23 as the result of his lucrative advertising career and his being one of the early adopters of television for generating advertising revenues.

It was said that his gambling addiction involved not just racing, but extended to just about anything on which it was possible to place a wager.

Singleton simultaneously entertained another expensive addiction: multiple marriages, five of them to be precise.

He did manage to resist the urge to gamble for a time, giving it up completely at one point, but the disease needed only a new outlet. That came in the form of horse buying advice from a no less reliable source than renowned jockey Athol George Mulley. It would seem that Mulley's horse judgment being unassailable would be a foregone conclusion, but Singleton's first batch purchased on Mulley's advice proved to be exceedingly poor performers which not even good trainers had managed to make go.

Here, Singleton needed to apply the same persistence that had facilitated his recovery from his previous monetary misdemeanors, and it seemed that that persistence struck pay dirt with Castlereagh Kid. The Kid won his maiden outing, then the racing gods again demonstrated their dominion, and the horse keeled over dead the following week.

Realizing the same value in diversity as that which in business ventures has steered him towards involvement in hotels, sports teams and other high profile concerns, Singleton formed an association with one Gerry Harvey, who eventually persuaded Singleton to take a stake in the Magic Millions that would rake in hundreds of millions for the men.

Singleton very nearly took the Melbourne Cup, even though he had only a fractional interest, with his friend and horse trainer Larry Pickering and their entry that year, Rising Fear.I personally think that this blogger described this well on this Maybell Escutia weblog. Thinking they had won when Tommy Smith enthusiastically pronounced Rising Fear the winner at the 200 m pole, Singleton started a premature celebration that ended abruptly when Al Talaq crossed the line ahead of his horse.

Singleton rebounded yet again. Older, wiser, and even richer, he learned from his experiences. He enlisted the services of perhaps one of the most astute judges of equine ability, Gai Waterhouse, who trained over 10 Group 1 winners for Singleton. The two teamed up for a legitimate opportunity to take the W. S. Cox Plate with More Joyous, but even the training bona fides of Waterhouse and the steering savvy of jockey Nash Rawiller were not sufficient to overcome favourite So You Think. In fact, they failed to even place, finishing a disappointing fifth, which, if Singleton punting history is any indication, would have cost Singleton $110,000 - 5th place prize money - his customary wager.

These days, and for many years prior, John Singleton has been a staunch advocate for change in the way Australian horse racing is administered. He favours innovations such as merging to a much smaller number all the various competing race clubs, the establishment of a centralized national governing body for the sport, and a small tax on corporate bookmakers that would be used to further support the future of racing.

Despite such practicalities, John "Singo" Singleton will forever be renowned for his flamboyant personality, colourful, expletive laced language and style reminiscent of the big-time punters from horse racing's earlier heyday, such as Hollywood George Edser, George Freeman and Melbourne Mick Bartley.

The final chapter has yet to be written where Singleton is concerned, but one thing's certain: it will be anything other than boring.
